Our winter workout program has been designed to run like a college practice, with the goal of each individual player actually training, practicing and interacting with professional trainers for 1.5 hours. The trainers will consult with the coach to determine exactly what skills need to be improved on as a whole, based on the previous season’s results. Both team goals and individual goals are set at the beginning of each session to ensure that the players know exactly what is expected of them individually and as a team player. Our winter workout program will ensure that the boys and girls get the best head start on the rest of their competition.
The main focal points of our team training program include:
*The overall hitting mechanics (The same philosophy that is taught in all Batting 1.000 Lessons)
*Hitting in certain counts and situations (Learning plate discipline)
*Translating those ‘good mechanics’ into game situations
*Speeding up the hands of the hitter to get quicker to the ball by eliminating any wasted movement in the swing
- Playing small ball with bunting and stealing (Learning techniques and how to execute)
*Overall Pitching mechanics for the main pitchers and throwing mechanics for all players
*Throwing progression to build arm strength and durability
*How to pitch to certain hitters and in certain counts.
*How to locate fastballs. (Never just calling fastball over middle of plate no matter what age)
*Depending on the age of the team and coach’s demands, pitchers will learn different pitches from our talented trainers.
*Pitchers holding runners on and being quicker to the plate when leading is involved.
*All catching skills (Setup, Receiving, Throwing to bases, blocking, and calling a game)
*Pitchers and catchers working together to gain continuity and prepare them for the season.
*Pitchers throwing live bullpen sessions to hitters with catchers calling game. (Simulated Game)
*Basic infield skills (Ready position, fielding position, quick transfers, footwork around bases)
*Competition throughout the sessions to fuel the competitive spirit needed to win.
*Strength and conditioning depending on coach’s demands and needs.
*Constant demand of discipline from each player as they will be treated like men (They will have fun but it is necessary for them to follow lesson plans and listen attentively to coaches. We as instructors, as well as you as coaches are all trying to help, but ultimately, they have to discipline themselves to coach themselves. That is where true learning takes place)
