Batting 1.000 at Citifield
As some of you may be aware, last year Batting 1.000 and the Boys of Summer League partnered up to give our players the amazing opportunity to play a nine inning game on the home field of the New York Mets, Citifileld! Last year, we sent a couple of players from each of our 16u teams and it truly was the experience of a lifetime. This year, we have given all the teams playing in the Boys in Summer League the opportunity to lock into the games first for the past couple of months. At this point, there are still a couple of spots open on each of the six rosters. We have four teams representing the 13u/14u level and two teams representing the 15u/16u/17u levels. Roster spots will be open on a “first come, first serve” basis. If you want to discuss the possibility of sending your entire team amongst one another, that option still exists and would most likely occupy all roster spots that are still remaining. To understand more on how to participate in this event, please read below for all of the details.
- The dates of the games that we will be playing at Citifield are Wednesday, August 6th and Thursday, August 7th. I have requested and given the later start times, the latest one being an 8:00 start under the lights which I think is pretty cool! So I think the three nine inning games will be 2:00, 5:00 and 8:00. The exact schedule of games will be known in the next two weeks as the president of the league putting this together is working on it. There is no fee for family members and friends to watch the game that the boys will be playing in. You may bring as many people as you would like.
- In order to be given this opportunity, each team was requested to sell 250 tickets to a Mets Game. This breaks down to roughly 20 tickets per player on each team. At this point, each team has roster spots available as a couple of players on each team was not able to participate. The date of the game we must sell the tickets for is Saturday, August 16th @ 7:10 vs the Chicago Cubs. There is a Boyz 2 Men Concert after, so that hopefully should make selling the tickets easier! Last year, almost all of the coaches and many players from the organization made a great day of it at the game, tailgating in the parking lot beforehand and enjoying watching BP in the stadium then the game after. The seats are all in the first section of left and right field. (See picture of the tickets below to give you an idea what section they are in)
- In order for the entire team to participate in the event, each player must sell 20 tickets at $40 per ticket (Face Value). Last year, we had two weeks to sell the tickets as we were given the tickets very late and we managed to pull it off. To lock in your roster spot, you must submit a check made out to “Batting 1.000” or cash to Batting 1.000 ASAP for $800. (No Credit Cards will be accepted at all) In exchange, you will get 20 tickets to the Mets vs. Cubs game that you will have to decide how many tickets you need for family and how many you have to sell.
I hope this note answers any and all questions that anyone may have to this event. But as always, if you have any further questions, please feel free to call me at (516)589-3711. Below are some pictures from the event last year just so you have a better idea what it is all about! I am looking forward to all the boys getting this opportunity!
